Christopher Nolan Receives Top Directors Award For ‘Openheimer’
‘Oppenheimer’, directed by Christopher Nolan, was awarded the top prize at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards, signalling a potential breakthrough for Nolan at the Oscars. Despite previous nominations for acclaimed films such as, ‘Memento’, ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Inception’, and ‘Dunkirk’, Nolan hadn’t secured the top DGA honour until now. He expressed gratitude to his filmmaking team for bringing his ambitious visions to life, particularly praising their work on ‘Oppenheimer’, a film about the invention of the atomic bomb.

In addition, the ceremony also acknowledged the power of cinema to provide solace and understanding in times of adversity, as evidenced by director Mstyslav Chernov’s remarks about his film and its relevance amid tragedy.

Nwabali Apologises To Nigerians On AFCON Misadventure
Despite a stellar performance by Stanley Nwabali, he narrowly missed out on the golden glove award to his South African counterpart, Ronwen Williams, conceding two goals in the final match against the eventual winners.

In a heartfelt message on his social media page, Nwabali expressed disappointment and apologised to Nigerians for the not-too-sweet tale of the tournament. He stressed his continued love and appreciation for fans’ support. Nwabali, who made his debut for the national team against Cote d’Ivoire, has since become a key player in the squad, consistently praised for his exceptional performances throughout the tournament.

Kanye West’s ‘Vulture’ Tops Charts Despite Criticism Of Personality
Despite facing significant backlash over his recent anti-semitic comments, Kanye West’s latest album, ‘Vulture’, has surprisingly soared to the top, demonstrating the enduring complexity of separating an artist’s controversies from their creative output. The controversial remarks, which sparked widespread condemnation and calls for boycotts, seemed to have little impact on the album’s commercial success, raising questions about the extent to which the public is willing to separate art from the artist’s behaviour. Despite West’s persona, his music continues to resonate with a broad audience, highlighting the nuanced relationship between cultural appreciation and moral accountability.

Ruggedman Asserts 9ice Sold His Album
Rapper Ruggedman recently stirred up controversy by accusing his fellow artiste, 9ice, of betrayal and sale of his album, ‘Tradition’. Ruggedman said 9ice used his ex-wife’s dispute to sell his CD. Ruggedman, popularly called Ruggedy, alleged that 9ice deliberately used their past friendship and collaboration to garner attention and sales for his latest project, suggesting that 9ice’s actions were calculated and disingenuous.

The accusations have sparked heated debates within the music community, with some taking siding with Ruggedman and criticising what they perceive as unethical marketing tactics, while others question the validity of the claims and argue that such accusations could be damaging to both artists’ reputations.
