Yobe earmarks N3.2b to complete capital projects

Yobe State Executive Council (SEC) has earmarked N3.2 billion to complete various capital projects across the state.The Damaturu International Cargo Airport sited on Gashu’a road gulps N1.5 billion for the procurement and installation of aircraft rescue and fire-fighting vehicles.

While briefing reporters on the outcome of the Wednesday’s SEC meeting in Damaturu, the Commissioner of Information, Abdullahi Bego, disclosed that the airport had reached 90 per cent completion and would be handed over in May 2021.

He said the personnel under training would be deployed to instal and equip the Low Level Wind Shear Alert System (LLWAS) at the airport.

“Besides this approval, the council also ratified N744 million for the execution of additional works on the Gashu’a Modern Market project,” he said, assuring that the market was about to be completed for commissioning.

The state government also released N149 million for the procurement of four Toyota Camry and two Toyota Corolla cars for the newly High Court judges and Khadis in the state.
