Mexican actor and singer Adan Canto, famous for his roles in X-Men and Designated Survivor, has sadly passed away at the age of 42.
The news was confirmed by his publicist, Jennifer Allen, who revealed that Canto lost his battle with appendiceal cancer.Canto’s remarkable career began at the young age of 16 when he ventured into the world of music as a singer-songwriter. Later, he transitioned to acting, making his debut on the Mexican series Estado de Gracia in 2009. His American breakthrough came with Kevin Williamson’s Fox drama series, The Following, in 2013.
The versatile actor’s significant contributions include portraying Vice President-elect Aaron Shore on Designated Survivor, Colombian politician Rodrigo Lara Bonilla on Narcos, and the mutant Sunspot in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Beyond acting, Canto directed two short films, showcasing his diverse talents. At the time of his passing, he was starring as Armand Morales in Fox’s The Cleaning Lady, currently in its third season.
Despite his illness preventing his participation in the show, Canto aimed to rejoin the production later in the season. Known for his broad smile and boisterous laugh, he leaves behind a legacy of impressive performances and a profound impact on those who knew him.
Colleagues and friends, including Kiefer Sutherland, who shared the screen with him on Designated Survivor, expressed their grief on social media, remembering Canto as a wonderful spirit and a dedicated actor.
Adan Canto is survived by his wife, Stephanie Ann Canto, and their two young children, Roman Alder and Eve Josephine. The entertainment industry mourns the loss of a talented individual whose work touched the hearts of many.
