Why I didn’t give up on restoring my mandate – Mutfwang

Caleb Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has reassured residents of the state of the readiness of his administration to provide good governance, saying he didn’t give up the struggle to restore his mandate because God reassured him of victory.

Speaking, yesterday, during the interdenominational thanksgiving service held at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, Jos, for the affirmation of his election victory by the Supreme Court penultimate Friday, the governor thanked the people of the state and friends outside the state for standing with him during the period of the electoral dispute, adding that he would have given up on the struggle, but God reassured him not to.

He said that throughout his life, he had never seen people pray like that over the Plateau Project.

“God will not forget your labour of love. God will remember each and every one of you, because if it were not for prayers, the enemies had almost swept us up. When I saw this mammoth crowd, indeed, I knew that the expectations are high and yet there is nothing in myself to offer to you, but I know that with God, all things are possible. God that has seen us thus far will never fail us,” Mutfwang added.

He thanked the military and other security personnel, his appointees and other executives and traditional leaders.

Mutfwang thanked particularly the media whom he said has demonstrated unwavering commitment, adding that they are not only the members of the fourth estate of the realm, but the voice of the voiceless.

Former governor of the state, Major-General Lawrence Onoja (rtd), described Mutfwang’s victory as a victory for democracy, urging the governor to remain committed and embrace all and sundry irrespective of different affiliations as injustice is seen everywhere.

He appealed to the people to remain united so that their purpose in life would be achieved.
The officiating minister at the event, Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam, who prayed fervently for victims of attacks and captives of insecurity in the country, stated that insecurity has become a sad reality in Nigeria.

He prayed to God Almighty to come to the aid of those held captive by BokoHaram and displaced people currently in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, stressing that nothing is beyond God to do.

The former governor of the state, Senator Jonah Jang remarked how happy he was when the Supreme Court delivered judgment in favour of Mutfwang.

Jang urged the people to turn and cry to God to make the governor complete his eight-year tenure successfully.
