‘We pray to God over election, his supremacy in the nation’

Pastor Matthew Aiyedun
Province 85 winds up its 2nd anniversary today with different offerings to appreciate God. Pastor Matthew Aiyedun, the Pastor-In-Charge of Province (PICP) in a chart with OMIKO AWA disclosed that the celebration was to appreciate God and impact on its immediate community.

What is the importance of this 2nd anniversary to your province and the church?
It is important to us because it is a way to show our gratitude to God for His faithfulness, lovingkindness and for keeping us for the past two years. We also want to celebrate God for His help, when we remember how we started and where we are today. The Lord has increased us numerically, materially and spiritually. Each time we remember the number of parishes we started with and our current number, we just have to be grateful to God for the increase and divine grace. We are also thanking God for His support and provision towards the Provincial Secretariat project. He has been our all in all.

Were these the reasons for the theme, “Jehovah”?
Yes, it is. The theme, Jehovah, was taken to express God’s greatness. We don’t just call the name any how because it encompasses a lot of meaning and whenever there is need, all we just have to do is to pick one of God’s names and there will a solution. God always manifest Himself through His names. The name of a person is his identity for example; God is Jehovah Jireh (our Provider). The Bible tells us that God feeds every mouth including animals and also allows plants to grow. If there is money to buy things, but no farm produce, the money will be useless. God is Jehovah Saboth (he Lord that answers prayers); Jehovah Shalom (the Lord our peace) and other great names. We need to thank God for peace in the country, our diversities and even for the current economics crisis, which would soon be over.

With the ongoing fasting and prayer in RCCG, what should people look on to, especially with the happenings in the country?
Well, with the ongoing fasting and prayer God will answers prayers. He is Jehovah Saboth (God that answers prayers), which is the reason we are looking unto Him for solutions to all our problems. If not for prayers a lot of evil things would have happened in the country.

Fasting and prayer also boost our spiritual antenna and connect us to God. So, the ongoing RCCG fasting and prayer is happening at a time Nigeria needs Gods most, especially this period of election. We are praying for God to take over the election and show His supremacy in Nigeria as Jehovah, the Almighty.

Would there be any Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the anniversary?
Yes, the programme will be for four days, starting from Thursday at the Area level, Friday at the Zonal level, while Saturday will be on family basis in the morning with CSR activities later in the day in our province which cuts across both Lagos and Ogun State where we have our parishes. The CSR will cover several aspects such as, financial empowerment, medical outreach, visit to orphanage homes, prisons, distribute food items, cloths and other wellbeing materials. We shall also desilt some drainage and make some roads motorable, among others.
