Walking in the light – Part 17

Abel Ukachi Amadi

Key Verse: Ephesians 1:18: “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance,” (NIV).

One of the greatest assets in the kingdom of God is light. The level of light available to each child of God at any given time determines how he/she functions. Light is a symbol of revelation that a believer has about God. You function at your level of knowledge about God. The more light of God’s word that you have determines the level of your operation in the kingdom. Darkness is a symbol of ignorance and some Christians are suffering, today, because of their lack of knowledge of who they are in Christ. Hosea 4:6 says that my people are perishing because of their lack of knowledge. The more you know God, the greater dimension of light you will walk in.

Lack of revelation of who you are in Christ keeps you below and keeps you in a life of perpetual defeat. A lion will not require a sheep to keep its gate. You become a prey in the hands of the devil when you are ignorant of your authority in Christ. Knowing your identity in Christ affects the way you think and behave. Conversely, if you don’t know who you are in Christ, it will affect your thinking and behaviour. Galatians 4:7 says:“Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” The Bible says in Ephesians 2:6 that we are seated with Christ in the Heavenly realms. That is the level every true believer functions at. You don’t fear witches and wizards because you have been given authority over them.

When you walk in the light, you walk in the revelation of the things Jesus accomplished for us. You will then walk in the consciousness that you are an overcomer in every situation you face in life because Jesus had won the victory on the cross and Satan has been defeated. As a child of God, you don’t live your life in defeat because Jesus has recovered the dominion that man lost in the Garden of Eden. You must know as a child of God that God is living inside of you. The supernatural is the natural habitat of the children of God. Psalm 66:3 says: “Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! Through, the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.” If you don’t know how much you are worth, any amount you will accept. We are redeemed for an unending progress. The Bible says in Proverbs 4:18 that the path of the just shines brighter and brighter.

Walking in the light is walking in forward movement. As a child of God, you have a destiny for forward movement. A believer doesn’t have a better yesterday. We move from strength to strength and from glory to glory. Psalm 84:7 says: “They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.” Walking in darkness is walking in backward movement. Now the choice is yours to choose whether to walk in the light or walk in darkness, but I urge you to choose to walk in the light so that it will be well with your soul. Walking in darkness is filled with life of misery, disappointment, brokenness, suffering, sickness and disease. God wants you to be a partaker of the great and precious promises in Christ. Life in Christ guarantees victory, triumph and eternity in Heaven at last.
