The management of Veritas University, Abuja has explained what led to the demise of a student within its premises.

Specifically, the university pointed out that the 100 Level student of Computer Science Department, Joshua Daniel, died while ‘keeping fit at the University Gymnasium’.

Spokesperson of the school Ben Agande said attempts by the Medical Team, led by the Chief Medical Director, to revive the student failed.

He, however, assured that the institution would cooperate fully with the police, parents of the deceased, and all relevant authorities to unravel the probable cause of death.

Agande commiserated with the parents of the deceased even as he prayed to God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“The parents of the student were promptly informed of the tragic event and the school Authority, as a matter of procedure, duly informed the police,” Agande said.

“Our thoughts are with the parents of late Mister Daniel as well as the Head of Department and Students of the Department of Computer Sciences over this unfortunate loss.

“As a university, we will cooperate fully with the police, the parents of the deceased, and all relevant authorities to unravel the probable cause of death.

“We plead with our colleagues in the media and members of the public to be respectful of the privacy of our late student’s parents at this trying moment while the police carry out its investigations.”
