Troops thwart kidnap attempt, neutralise terrorists, nab cattle rustling syndicate

The Nigerian Army said it has achieved significant successes in multiple operations across the North East and North Central geo-political regions of the country.


Making the announcement, yesterday, in its X-handle, the troops claimed it intervened to foil a kidnapping in Lankaviri community in KarimLamido Local Council of Taraba State.

Stating that one Musa Arewa was rescued from three armed kidnappers subjected to torture, the troops arrested the suspects, recovering three locally-made guns.

In its usual collaborative effort with hunters and other security agencies in the state, the troopsalso conducted a fighting patrol to clear communities infiltrated by terrorists.

Stating that during the operation, a notorious terrorist, identified as GamboKachallah, was nabbed and neutralised in several affected communities in the state.


The army also announced that a separate operation led to the successful apprehension of a notorious cattle rustling syndicate in Mangu Village, Mangu Local Council of Plateau State.

The operation in the neighbouring state of Plateau, according to the army, resulted in the arrest of key syndicate members.

Identifying the arrested syndicate members as Peter Sale, Enoch Luka, and HosaanaPhilibus, the troops stated it recovered illicit arms, which include a fabricated rifle and pistol, along with ammunition and other items.

These operations, as stated in the army X-handle, reflected the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in the regions affected by insurgency and criminal activities.
