Troops kill 202 terrorists, arrest 437 in one week – DHQ

Troops on the frontline across the country have neutralised about 202 terrorists as well as arrested 437 others in one week.


The military also arrested 30 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 209 kidnapped hostages in the week.

It further stated that joint troops operations denied oil criminals of the sum of N718m in the South-South region.

Spokesman of Nigeria’s Defence Media Operations (DMO), Major General Edward Buba, who made the disclosure, noted that the ongoing counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations remain focused on fighting the terrorists and their cohorts across the country.


“In the last one week, the military have been striking terrorists’ enclaves through air attacks with ground forces exerting significant military power on areas in which the terrorists are hibernating.
“During the week under review, troops recovered 201 assorted weapons and 5,346 assorted ammunition.”

He added that 18 vehicles, 118 motorcycles, three bicycles, 44 mobile phones and N74.7m were recovered among other items.

He further said troops in the Niger Delta area discovered and destroyed 28 dugout pits, 15 boats and 55 storage tanks, recovering seven cooking ovens, seven vehicles, eight mobile phones, two pumping machines, two baofeng radios, one outboard engine and 45 illegal refining sites.

Buba maintained that the armed forces remained steadfast in executing its role to restore the safety and security of the citizens.
