Trinity University graduates 72 at maiden convocation

Trinity University, Yaba, has graduated 72 students from two faculties at its combined maiden convocation for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.


At the event, 20 graduating students of the five-year-old institution made first class.

The institution also conferred honorary doctorate degrees on the Chief Executive Officer, Grandex Nigeria Limited and wife of former Oyo State governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, and founder, SystemSpecs Limited, Dr John Obaro.

Speaking at the ceremony, Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Clement Kolawole, said 31 per cent of the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 made first class, 46 per cent second class upper, while 23 per cent made second class lower.


Miss Okpala Chidera of the Mass Communication department emerged best graduating student for the 2021/2022 set, with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.85, while Adewunmi Oyindamola of Biological Science emerged tops with a CGPA of 4.88 for the 2022/2023 academic session.

He commended the graduating students for working diligently over the last four years and enjoined them to strive to be successful.

Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of council, Samuel Olatunji, described the graduands as practical testimony of the university’s vision and values.

On his part, newly appointed Chancellor, Samuel Adedoyin, who is the founder and chairman, Doyin Group of Companies, expressed delight at his appointment, saying it is a call to service.

He urged the graduands to be good ambassadors of the school and endeavour to put the knowledge gained to good use.
