For the past few days, Nigerians have been facing a lot of challenges such as increase in essential goods, electricity, fuel scarcity and non-availability of new Naira notes.

Oyo State residents lament the agony faced in getting the new currency, which they described as unbearable.

The Guardian observed that scarcity of the new Naira bills has negatively affected all business activities.

At Gbagi, Bodija and Oje markets, our correspondent observed low patronage and turnout of customers at the popular Ibadan markets, as traders wait endlessly for customers.

A trader, who sells clothes at Gbagi, said: “Since yesterday, I have not sold anything; some of my customers would like to patronise me, but they always tell me that they don’t have cash. Yesterday, I had to borrow money from someone for my transport fare back home.”

Another trader at Bodija decried low patronage, saying a lot of her customers bought goods on credit, and that he was yet see receive monies transferred to his bank account.

Both the sellers and buyers appealed to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to ensure availability of new Naira to save Nigerians from more suffering.
