.Group flays negative comments on Bello

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has appealed to the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to support President Bola Tinubu, as the President needs him to succeed.

This was as Kogi Peoples Movement for Equity and Justice (KPMEJ) condemned negative social media commentaries against former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

Sule made the appeal yesterday, when Obi visited him at Government House, Lafia.

“You are going round the country to contribute towards cushioning the effect of the economic hardship. I know you have the experience and capacity to support President Tinubu to succeed. I like the statement you made that there is time for politics and time for governance.

“I am sure you have contributions to make, just like the one you are making in Nasarawa and across the country by drilling boreholes in communities and identifying with Muslims during the Ramadan,” he said.

Obi remarked that he was in the state to support Muslims in the period of Ramadan in his little way.

“I decided to tour the states during the Ramadan period to support the less privileged people in my own small way,” he said.

The former Anambra State governor noted that as part of his support to Nigerians, he embarked on nationwide borehole drilling in rural communities across states.

Lack of potable water, according to Obi, is the major demand across all communities in the country.

Obi reiterated that he was not desperate to be President of Nigeria, but to make sure Nigeria is working like other developed countries of the world.

He, however, commended Sule for embarking on road projects and urged him to focus on improving the livelihoods of his people.

KPMEJ, in a statement, yesterday, by its Coordinator, Sani Usman, noted that the comments were part of an attempt to create disaffection between Bello and his political leader, Tinubu.

Bello, the group asserted, holds the Nigerian leader in high esteem as his father and benefactor, adding that the relationship will continue, no matter the evil machinations of disgruntled elements bent on destroying it.

The statement reads: “Bello, whose towering political influence has angered many of his detractors, has been consistent in mobilising political will behind the President, particularly among emerging leaders in the North, as the President deals with the current economic challenges with the determination of a commander-in-chief.”
