President Bola Tinubu on Friday held a meeting with the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, immediate past governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike and a former Delta state governor, James Ibori.
The trio of Makinde, Wike and Ibori reportedly walked in to the venue of the meeting with Tinubu at around 4:25pm. Our correspondent gathered that it was about the same time the Chief Executive Officer of Access Holding Plc, Herbert Wigwe, who had been to the President’s office, was making his departure.
Makinde and Wike are considered to be very strong allies of Tinubu and both men were believed to have played majo roles for his emergence during the February 25 presidential election.
Wike invited Tinubu to inaugurate Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover as well as magistrates court building in Port Harcourt on May 3 and 4.
The former Rivers governor said then that he had invited presidential candidates of other parties like Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and they all came and commissioned projects, and we did say to Tinubu that we believe that after the election, we are going to invite him to commission projects too.
Wike, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), is reported to have worked for Tinubu during the presidential election after a fallout with Atiku Abubakar.
The former Rivers State governor’s reported alliance with Tinubu was preceded by a meeting with APC governors in 2022.
They include former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi; his Ondo State counterpart and chairman of the Southern governors forum, Rotimi Akeredolu, and Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
