The Guardian MD/Editor-in-Chief loses dad

…To be buried on January 14

The Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of The Guardian, Martins Oloja, who lost his father, Elder Michael Oloja Lemikan on September 14, 2021, has announced final burial arrangements, which will be rounded off on Friday, January 14, at his hometown, Ajagba in Irele Local Government, Ondo State.

Pa Oloja, 93, was a local community leader, farmer, hunter and a local medicine dispenser who trained as an itinerant chemist. He was, until his death, generally believed to be the oldest man in Ajagba, Ondo State.
Pa Oloja

Pa Oloja, a devout Christian, began his Christian foundation in a Baptist Church in Gboroye village, near Ajagba, before moving to Ajagba about 47 years ago.

Pa Oloja, who hails from Ehinmonoren Lemikan Family in Ajagba, loved singing and praying in scriptures, especially in Psalms. An astute dispute resolution expert, he loved using Proverbs to settle local disputes within and among families in the community.

He loved to tell his children to guard the family name very jealously. According to him, ‘reputation is everything…a man rises and falls on the scale of reputation and that depends on what people around you feel about you…reputation is earned and cannot be forced…”

Pa Oloja joined his ancestors on September 14, 2021, but the larger family delayed the announcement of the burial arrangements until now.

Mr. Martins Oloja, the eldest child, who disclosed this last night, said the funeral arrangements are as follows:

Wake: Thursday, January 13, Church /Thanks-giving service and interment will hold on Friday, January 14, in Ode Ajagba, Ondo State. Arrangement will be made for those who would like to join virtually as there are active Internet connections in Ajagba town.
