TERTIARY Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has donated a 30-seater brand new Toyota Coaster bus to National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) for ease of movement.

Presenting the bus to the students, yesterday, Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, said the agency was also designing interventions to address students’ hostel challenges and others.

The meeting, Echono said, was in continuation of the Fund’s dialogue with education stakeholders.

While stressing the need to equip students with skills, Echono noted that TETFund would like the students to be its eyes in various institutions, reporting errant contractors, to ensure transparency in the system.

“We want to be able to identify, on each campus, a contact person that will be able to checkmate our projects, so that we can have first-hand information, even before sending our team there.

“We have engagements with other stakeholders. So, going forward, this will make our monitoring process more transparent,” he said. Responding, NANS President, Usman Barambu, assured the board that the association would put thorough checks across campuses to ensure that contractors, who handle TETFund projects, carry out such projects.

The students’ body commended the board for donating the bus to them, sequel to their request. He added: “We are here to thank you and encourage the entire management to do more and more for Nigerian students.”
