The Diocese of Ahoada Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) held its 2nd Session of the 7th Synod with the theme: “What Shall I Render Unto The Lord…?” taken from Psalms 116:12, at St. Barnabas’ Church, Abarikpo (headquarters Of Abarikpo Archdeaconry) in Ahoada-East Local Council of Rivers State from May 23 to 26.

At the end of the synod, the church under the leadership of the Bishop of the Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Clement Nathan Ekpeye called on President Bola Tinubu to come up with policies that will alleviate hardship in the country.

The Synod observed that the current economic situation is grossly harsh, leading to unnecessary deaths, starvation and ailments. It also observed with disgust, the unfortunate political crises that have bedeviled Rivers State, where the immediate past and present administrations of the state do not see eye-to-eye, and advised the warring parties to sheath their swords for peace to reign, not only in the state, but also in the nation as a whole.

Condemning the spate of kidnappings and killings in the country, the Synod enjoined the security agencies, particularly the Inspector General of Police, to rise to the occasion and nip all forms of crime in the bud.

Asserting that all good gifts come from God, the Synod urged Christians to be grateful to God and ascribe glory and honour to him for all things at all times. It admonished Christians to love the Lord, their God at all times; and call upon him even in times of trouble according to Psalms 116:1, 2.

It said: “As Christians are aware of God’s ability to answer prayers, the Synod enjoins them to witness this to the world, to justify the immense benefits they receive from God. You are to cultivate a life of gratitude and unwavering reliance on God, rejecting despair.”

The synod condemned all forms of inhumanity and implored Nigerians to embrace righteousness and gratitude.

Condemning the current trend of youths, engaging in Internet fraud, the assembly called on young people to engage in legitimate skills that are profitable to them and the country.

The Synod featured Bible studies, sermons, paper presentations, group discussions and deliberations.
