Star Wars Voice Actor Mark Dodson Passes Away at 64


Mark Dodson, the voice actor known for bringing iconic characters to life in “Star Wars” and “Gremlins,” has passed away at the age of 64.


Dodson’s most recognizable roles included the cackling court jester Salacious Crumb in “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” (1983) and the mischievous Mogwai in “Gremlins” (1984).

His talent extended beyond these roles, with credits in various films, television shows, and video games.

Dodson’s daughter said the actor reportedly died of a “massive heart attack” during his stay in Evansville, Indiana, for the event Evansville Horror Con, according to TMZ.


“Mark worked on dozens of movies, video games, commercials and advertisements, adding his unique voice and sound to each character and script he touched,” Stellar Appearances’ post read. “Mark leaves behind a wonderful family, close friends, and adoring fans around the world. The family asks for privacy during this difficult time.”

Mark Dodson was born on February 1, 1960, in St. Louis, United States.

He began his career in the film industry after relocating to the Los Angeles area following high school in 1978. In a 2010 interview, he mentioned starting as a production assistant and carpenter.
