Stakeholders interrogate reputation, economic renaissance in Abeokuta

President NIPR, Ike Neliaku

The Ogun State chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) will host the 2024 edition of NIPR’s yearly meeting schedule to hold from April 22 to 26, 2024.

Themed, ‘Leveraging Public Relations as a Critical Asset for Nigeria’s Economic and Reputation Renaissance,’ Chairman of Ogun State chapter of the institute, Seun Boye, noted, the meeting is an “opportunity to reflect on a year that has been very remarkable to us as a chapter. Our journey has been defined by dedication, resilience, hardwork with the support of all our distinguished members and friends.”

While noting that the event is a convergence of PR professionals across the 36 states of the federation both from government and the private sector, she said, “in the past one year, when the present Executive Council took over the mantle of leadership of this Chapter, we have left no stone unturned at ensuring that NIPR activities are revived through our various programmes, we have also ensured that all our ‘run-away’ members are back to the fold, while a good number of those who were yet to be re-certified have done so.

“Permit me to use this medium to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each member of Ogun NIPR, particularly our elders, ever supportive members and let me specially recognise my excos who have journeyed with me to render selfless service without any financial gains. Thank you immensely for your tireless efforts, creativity, and unwavering commitment which have been the driving force behind our collective success,” she concluded.

There will be an exclusive engagement session with university students as part of our pre-conference activities. This engagement session, designed specifically for university students studying Mass Communications/ Public Relations, which aims to offer them insight into what a career in Public Relations looks like. During this event, students will have the opportunity to glean wisdom from seasoned professionals from the NIPR who will offer valuable advice on how to prepare for a career in public relations. In addition, the students will engage in discussions with members of the NIPR Young Professionals Hub, who will share their experiences transitioning from academia to professional practice.

Ultimately, the session seeks to provide mentorship and guidance to equip students with the knowledge needed to make informed career choices moving forward.

There will also be a tailor-made session for the traditional rulers in Ogun State with the goal of providing them with strategies on how to better position their communities to gain the attention of corporate organisations across the country.

The traditional rulers will acquire valuable knowledge on leveraging Public Relations techniques to highlight and showcase the unique prospects present within their communities and set the stage for strategic partnerships and financial investments.
