Sit-at-home: IPOB shut down Ebonyi

There was total compliance by the residents in Ebonyi State to the sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to mark Biafra Heroes Day.

Business activities were grounded as banks, schools, offices, and businesses, including eateries, shopping malls and markets, were all under lock when our correspondent monitored compliance.

There were few cars on the road belonging to private individuals as parks were also shut down.

However, a few commercial motorcyclists and tricyclists were operating around the city centre.

They may have been emboldened to come out due to the heavy presence of machine gun-welding security men moving around in a convoy.

Meanwhile, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state has postponed its 5-man delegate Congress earlier scheduled to be held today across the state.

Though the party in a statement claimed the reason for the postponement was to allow for the screening of aspirants it is believed that the shift may be because of the sit-at-home.

“The 5 – Man Delegates Congress and Councillorship Primary Elections of the party will now hold on Friday, 31st May, 2024 in the 13 LGAs across the state”, the statement signed by Stanley Meghan, the party Chairman added. Ends
