Senate Committee commends LUTH’s management pro-activeness

The management of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) has received commendations from the Senate for being pro-active and prudent in the management of resources.

The Senate Committee on Health led by Senator Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, during an oversight visit to the hospital, praised the hospital’s leadership for its dedication.

Harry-Banigo expressed satisfaction with the management’s decision to embrace solar energy to depend less on public power supply.


She gave an assurance that the Senate would look into areas of need outlined including sustainable power supply, manpower development and recruitment of additional healthcare professionals.

The Chief Medical Director at LUTH, Prof. Wasiu Lanre Adeyemo expressed gratitude to the Senate, House of Representatives and Federal Government for the support that is ensuring sustained renewal of infrastructure at the hospital.

Adeyemo highlighted challenges faced by the hospital, especially shortage of manpower, payment to outsourced staff and high cost of electricity.

He appealed to the Senate for funds to support renewable energy initiatives, emphasising the critical role of power in hospital operations.

The committee was at LUTH to assess its areas of need and strategise on ways to enhance service delivery to Nigerians.
