The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won in Oyo State’s Saki West State Constituency rerun poll.

Ibrahim Shittu defeated his PDP counterpart, Julius Femi. It would be recalled that the court had nullified the victory of the APC candidate, which necessitated a rerun.

Meanwhile, the senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of APC, Sharafadeen Alli, congratulated Shittu on his victory in the rerun election on Saturday.

This was contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan.

Alli expressed delight at the outcome of the election, commending APC leaders, members and stakeholders in the Oke-Ogun region for their dedication and hard work.
ALSO, APC was declared the winner of the rerun election of Cross River State’s Akamkpa Biase Federal Constituency, while PDP clinched the Yala II and Obanliku state constituencies, respectively.

Announcing the results at the INEC office in Akamkpa Local Council, the Returning Officer, Joshua Umoh, declared Dr Emil Inyang Lemke as the winner of the February  3, 2024, rerun election.
Lemke of the APC secured his victory with 15,930 votes, while Igwe Aidam scored 12, 417 votes.

For the Obanliku State Constituency, the election was keenly contested between Pius Ashakia of the PDP, winning with 10,587 votes, and Achunekang Sunday of the APC, who scored 10,427.

The result was announced by the Returning Officer, Dr. Blessing Anyalebechi. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also won the Yala II State Constituency, as Martins Achadu got his victory with 9,168 votes against Cynthia Ekwok of the APC, who scored 8, 647.

Meanwhile, Governor Francis Nwifuru has congratulated Prof. Anthony Okorie Ani on his victory in the just concluded senatorial bye election in Ebonyi South Zone, describing his victory as a testament of the people’s implicit confidence in the candidate and the APC.

The governor, in a statement, yesterday, in Abakaliki, said that the people have, once again, made a loud statement through the ballot, adding that the reason for the overwhelming victory of the APC candidate in the by-election is predicated on the modest achievements of his government.

He said: “Just like I said during our campaign, we were confident of victory because we chose a candidate with the pedigree, and all it takes to win the election.

Still, on the rerun election, INEC also declared Peter Uzokwe of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) as the winner of the rerun election for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency of Anambra.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Charles Nweke, said that Uzokwe polled 25,518 votes to defeat the Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Uchenna Elodimuo, who scored 25,412 votes.
