Reduce tax, create more policies for businesses to strive, NACCIMA tasks FG

Oye

The Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has called on the Federal Government to create more policies and reduce taxes for businesses to strive in the country.

National President of NACCIMA, Dele Kelvin Oye, gave the advice, yesterday, during the food and beverage exhibition with over 30 countries and 150 exhibitors, organised by BtoB Event in collaboration with NACCIMA in Lagos State.

Oye lamented that the current rates and policies do not support businesses, thereby making firms leave the country.

He said: “I am actually almost at war with the Central Bank of Nigeria because their current rates and policies don’t support business. I have talked about exchange rates, where we should have a fixed exchange rate at a reasonable price of N800 to the dollar. The current rate is not sustainable for business. And also, the Customs duty has to stay in one place. It should not be like a barber’s chair.

“I have told them that if they want to support business, everything must be stable, and that’s why we are here. And we are going to continue to fight for businesses to improve the investment environment, the climate, and most importantly, to provide finance at single digits.

“The current effort of the government is not enough to sustain business, retain talents, or keep people to expand their capacity.”

He, therefore, appealed to the Federal Government to continue to support businesses with more favourable policies, a suitable environment and security consciousness, promising to work closely with the government to make sure that the environment is more business-friendly.
