A former student of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, in a viral video, said that students, especially females, spend more than 10 years before graduating for refusing to have sex with lecturers.

The video, which is circulating on social media, is coming just weeks after one Late Miss Ugwuka Favour Chinonye of the English Department committed suicide, claiming that she was frustrated by lecturers, who marked her down for not sleeping with them. Â

She said that some students had spent more than 10 years in the institution. According to her, she met some of them on campus and graduated, while they were still there because one lecturer told them that they would not graduate.

Confirming the video, the Ebonyi State University Public Relations Officer, Patrick Itumo, told The Guardian that management is aware of the video in circulation and has launched an investigation on the matter, promising that the school will make public their findings. He maintained that the university is one of the best state universities in the country, adding that the school is a centre for excellence and innovation.
