Police Trust Fund trains officers in Niger on hitch-free elections

As part of efforts towards ensuring a seamless electoral process, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has organised five-day capacity building training for officers and men of Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Niger State Command, in Minna, the state capital.


In their separate remarks, representatives of NPTF, Abdulsalam Shuib and Mohammed Ibrahim, explained that NPTF embarked on the weeklong training of its officers, ahead of the general elections, to train them on how to manage the electorate, as well as everybody at polling units, to ensure that the process is not threatened.

They added that 2,000 police officers, across the 36 states, were attending the training.

They enjoined officers to put to use what they learnt during the training.

Papers presented during the training include: Crime Prevention and Control, Standard Operational Guidelines, Public Order Act, Peace and Conflict Resolution at Polling Unit, as well as Human Rights Policing.

The training was well attended by officers and men of the Command drawn from various divisions across the state.

Highpoint of the training was the presentation of certificates to participants by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger State Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, and other stakeholders.
