Police nab two over alleged possession of illicit drugs in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 49-year-old Emeka Ozumu and Patrick Otukam, 30, for allegedly being in possession of illicit drugs in Asaba, the state capital.


The suspects were arrested at about 2:00 a.m., on June 13, while distributing the drugs.

Confirming the development yesterday, spokesperson for the command, Bright Edafe, said the operatives acted on credible information.

According to him, the police responded and went to the scene, where Ozumu and Otukam were arrested with 13 bottles of Codeine, 23 sachets of Tramadol and other hard drugs.


Edafe also confirmed the arrest of a 37-year-old man, Felix Egbe, a suspected cultist and armed robber, resident at Oteri community in Ughelli North Local Council.

He said: “At about 2:30 a.m., on June 14, operatives on special assignment deployed to Ughelli, led by ASP Julius Robinson, trailed a notorious cultist to a hotel (name withheld) in Ughelli. The suspect is a member of the Eiye confraternity.

“Upon interrogation, Egbe, a former youth secretary of Oteri community in Ughelli, took the operatives to his residence where a Berretta pistol was recovered. Investigation is ongoing to get details about his operations.”
