A police officer attached to Agbor Police Division has killed a buyer of used iron, Alhaji Aminu, for allegedly refusing to part with N1,000 as bribe to the officer in Ika South Local Council of Delta State.

The Guardian gathered that the trigger-happy officer demanded the “so-called daily dues” from the deceased, who said he had not made any sales because of what he called bad market, but the police officer was not ready to take any excuse.

According to sources, when the police man pressed further, the late Aminu agreed instalmental payment of N500 twice daily, which infuriated the police who allegedly brought out his gun and threatened to kill the iron buyer.

As the heated argument lasted, it then dawned on the policeman that the deceased did not want to pay the money, at which point he threatened him and the gun exploded. The man dropped dead on the spot.

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bright Edafe simply said “ I will find out and get back to you”.

He did not, however, get back till press time. But a senior police officer, who did not want his name on print, confirmed the story

MEANWHILE, members of Arewa Progressive Forum, Ika Chapter, yesterday, staged a peaceful protest at Agbor Area Command Division, Agbor-Obi, demanding justice for their deceased member, Aminu.
