A patrol team from Okokomaiko Division, Lagos, on Sunday arrested two men in possession of 70 cartons of Feed Fine Cyproheptadine Caplets 4g, all with an expiration date of 2016.
Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said in a statement that the suspects, driving in a Volkswagen LT bus, were stopped and searched at Afromedia, along the Lagos/Badagry Expressway.
Hundeyin gave the names of the suspects as Augustine Egemoye, aged 60, and Innocent Eremosele, aged 35.
He said they confessed they were taking the expired drugs to somebody in Alaba who would change the expiry dates and thereafter proceed with the drugs to Port-Harcourt to be sold.
He added that the suspects, the drug, and the vehicle are currently in custody.
Meanwhile, efforts are on to arrest the owner of the drugs, the individual altering expiry dates, and other indicted persons.
