Police arrest officer for stabbing civilian to death in Ajah

The Police in Lagos State have arrested an officer attached to the Police Mobile Force (PMF), otherwise known as MOPOL for allegedly stabbing a civilian to death during a public brawl at a shopping mall somewhere in Ajah area of the state.

Spokesperson for the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest, yesterday, said investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fight, which led to death has commenced, assuring members of the public that justice would be served.


He gave the name of the deceased person as Anosike Patrick, adding that the officer has been identified as Inspector Taofeek attached to PMF 12.

He added: “The Lagos State Police Command has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Patrick allegedly stabbed by a police officer at the Skymall shopping mall, Ajah on Saturday April 20.

“The Manager and Chief Security Officer of the mall are already in custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, the police officer has been identified as Inspector Taofeek, a member of the visiting 12 PMF squadron to Lagos.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Adegoke Fayoade, has directed detectives of the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department to ensure a speedy and diligent investigation towards ensuring that the culprit is brought to book. Members of the public shall be kept abreast of the investigation as it unfolds.”
