Police arrest man who stole car to remarry estranged wife in Bauchi


Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Ahmed Mohammed, a resident of Borno State who allegedly stole a car in a bid to pay for an accommodation for his estranged wife after re-marrying her.


A Police statement on Tuesday by the public relations officer, Ahmed Wakil, said that the Command got credible information on 24th of February, 2024 which it acted upon and one Ahmed Mohammed 29 years, a resident of Polo High-Court, Borno State was apprehended.

He said that the suspect was arrested at the Bayan Gari area of Bauchi State, alongside the stolen vehicle (white Toyota Highlander) with registration number: ABC-65PK.


Wakik said: “A discreet investigation into the matter has revealed that the suspect was employed as a driver by a company owned by his secondary school classmate called Damuli Investment Company Ltd. in Maiduguri, Borno State.

“It was further uncovered that the accused Ahmed Mohammed fled with the car to Bauchi with intent to sell it out at the sum of N2 million and use the money to pay his house rent and to welcome his estranged wife back home.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, psc, has directed that further investigation be extended to Borno State to explore more motives and unravel every fact behind his action.”
