Peace ambassadors urge harmony for attainment of SDG target

To achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4.7, Global Peace Network has advocated peaceful co-existence in Nigeria. During an event at the weekend in Abuja to commemorate the 2023 International Day of Living Together in Peace, holding tomorrow, Lead Representative, Augustine Ebohjor, stressed the need for everyone to reconnect, engage and build friendship.

He said peace must be promoted irrespective of diversities, adding that people must learn to listen, recognise, respect and appreciate others.
Ebohjor noted that learning to live together entails a development and understanding of everybody, which leads to interdependence, peaceful and intelligent responses to world’s challenges.

His words: “It contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 4.7, which states that all learners acquire knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development.

“Respect for diversities, gender, religion, culture and others, as well as ability to think critically lead learners to respond to challenges they face with empathy to build a sustainable world.

“This kind of respect and understanding is needed now more than ever, as we work in solidarity.” The event also witnessed presentation of Peace, Justice and Human Rights Award to Amb. Sunday Osemwengie.

In his acceptance speech, the awardee commended the United Nations for promoting peace. He called on government and stakeholders to do more in advancing unity and harmony.  Osemwengie charged the incoming administration on youth empowerment and engagement in governance.
