PDP clears 28 seats in Oyo Assembly as APC wins four

Folarin, Gbolarumi, S’West NANS congratulate Makinde

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has won 28 seats, while the main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) won four in the House of Assembly polls conducted last weekend.

However, in the spirit of sportsmanship, the gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Senator Teslim Folarin, yesterday, congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde and the PDP over their victory at the polls.

In a statement, he personally signed, Folarin said: “I congratulate Governor Seyi Makinde and appreciate Oyo State voters, APC members and other supportive stakeholders.”


MEANWHILE, a statement signed by the state’s PDP Chairman, Dayo Ogungbenro, reads in part: “Makinde has diligently fulfilled all his electoral promises of sustainable development under Omituntun 1.0 that was built on four main cardinal pillars and will replicate the same commitment in the next level accelerated development under Omituntun 2.0.”

RELATEDLY, a former Deputy Governor in Oyo State, Hazeem Gbolarumi, has urged Makinde to move forward in his good administration.

Gbolarumi, who gave the advice, yesterday, said that the people voted for him owing to his laudable performance.

The PDP chieftain implored the governor to creatively unite all aggrieved party members in the state ahead of 2027, adding that all contestants in the 2023 polls should put behind them the losses and work with Makinde.

He said he would be ready to work with Makinde if formally invited.

IN the same vein, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South-West (Zone D), has congratulated Makinde on his victory at last Saturday’s governorship polls.

Deputy Co-ordinator of NANS South-West, John Alao, while addressing some students in Ibadan, said Makinde’s leadership style had endeared him to the masses.

Alao also thanked students in the state for supporting the re-elected governor.
