Makinde, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Church service in Ibadan, said the state government would continue to guarantee the welfare of the Armed forces.
His words: “As a state, we will continue to care for the families of the fallen heroes and ensure that their welfare is guaranteed.
“For those of us who live in Oyo State, we should all ensure that when we see people who have lost their spouses, either as members of the Armed Forces or not, who fought gallantly to make Nigeria safe, we should always support them like our children and give them special privileges as much as we can.
“Indeed, security has improved in our state and I am sure you have heard the Governor acknowledged that a number of times. A lot of it has to do with the strategy that has been deployed, the cooperation among all the security agencies in the state and the setting up of Amotekun.”
Expressing the hope that the trend would continue positively, he explained that the state would adopt additional security strategies in the year, adding that there would be more Mobile Police Squadrons, while different security outfits would continue to work together to secure the state.
In his sermon, provost of St. Peter’s Church, Aremo, Reverend Wale Adebiyi, commended the state government for ensuring that peace reigns in all parts of the state.
He applauded those in charge of the state security architecture for improving safety of life and property in the state, and urged the people to assist the families of soldiers, so that their efforts would not be in vain.
Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola and other top government officials, military, police officers and other service commanders in the state attended the church service.
