Thanks President, APC, N’Assembly leadership
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District, on his emergence as Senate Leader of the 10th National Assembly, describing him as fit to occupy such an exalted position.
The governor, however, thanked President Bola Tinubu, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the National Assembly for the choice of Bamidele.
Oyebanji, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, said he was confident Bamidele would discharge his duties as Senate Leader effectively and bring additional value to the legislative and oversight functions of the upper legislative chamber, as well as the good governance agenda of the Tinubu-led administration.
According to the governor, Bamidele is very well prepared for the national assignment, giving his sound education, intellectual disposition, amiable personality and political sagacity, as well as the public service and legislative experiences he had gathered over the years as a three-term commissioner in Lagos State, a member of the House of Representatives and a two-term member of the Senate.
The Ekiti State governor, who described the new Senate Leader as a man of immense capacity, a great political mobiliser and strategist with extensive contact that cuts across different strata, said Bamidele would bring all those qualities to bear on his new role and work with other principal officers to build a highly effective 10th Senate that Nigerians would be proud of in terms of quality representation, coordination, cohesion, dynamism and delivery.
He urged the senator to utilise the position to build harmonious working relationship with various tendencies in the National Assembly and between the legislative and executive arms of government, in the interest of the country.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti State, I congratulate my dear brother and friend, our distinguished Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele on his emergence as the Senate Leader. This is indeed a call to serve and recognition of his sterling leadership qualities as a seasoned administrator, a committed democrat and an avowed believer in the Nigeria project.
“We are grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the National Assembly and the national leadership of our great party, APC, for the honour done to the South-West geopolitical zone and Ekiti State, by the choice of Senator Bamidele for this important role.
“Senator Bamidele is a man of immense capacity who has built an excellent public service record over the years. He is a fit and proper person for the position and I am sure he will discharge his duties responsibly in the overall interest of the country,” the governor stated.
