Osun AG tasks rent tribunal on integrity, compliance with law

Wole Jimi-Bada

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Osun State, Wole Jimi-Bada, has charged members of the State Rent Tribunal to discharge their responsibilities creditably and be guided by the extant provisions of the State Rent Control and Recovery of Premises Law 2003.

Jimi-Bada gave this charge at the inauguration of the chairmen and members of the Osun State Rent Tribunal in Osun State at the weekend.

According to him, members of the tribunal are to adjudicate upon rent-related disputes in the nine Federal Constituencies in Osun State.

He noted that the Rent Tribunal plays a pivotal role in ensuring fairness and upholding the rights of both tenants and landlords in the State, adding that it is saddled with the critical responsibility of ensuring that disputes are resolved efficiently and justly.

“As can be gleaned from its Explanatory Memorandum, it is a law to control the rent of premises, to establish the rent tribunals for the determination of appropriate rents, to provide for recovery of possession and purposes connected therewith.

“By ensuring that disputes are resolved fairly and efficiently, they contribute to a more stable and predictable rental market,” he stated.

Jimi-Bada further urged them to discharge their duties with diligence, dedication and assured them that the Ministry of Justice will provide them with the necessary support to ensure their success.
