A governorship aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Ondo State gubernatorial election, Bamidele Akingboye, has assured the people of the state of a new dawn if he emerges as the standard-bearer of his party and subsequently becomes governor of the state.

Akingboye, who emphasised that the state deserves the best, said that his government would be about the welfare of the people. The aspirant stated this, yesterday, during the official declaration and presentation of his intent to leaders of the party in Akure, the state capital.

According to him, he is not just seeking political power, his aspiration is to be elected as a servant leader committed to the upliftment and empowerment of every citizen of the state.

He said: “I do not seek political power for the lure of the office, self-aggrandisement, or pecuniary gains of myself or family members, but to create a new vista, broaden the state’s economic base, cut the cost of governance, prioritise the welfare of the people, and target rampant poverty. I will make the state safe, sane, and secure for all its law-abiding residents.

“We are going to look at the economic aspect of the budget, especially capital projects. I am going to divide my capital projects into social and economic aspects.”

Meanwhile, the state’s Chairman of the party, Tola Alabere, gave the assurance that the PDP would create a level playing field for all the aspirants vying for the ticket of the party in the forthcoming election.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to internal democracy, emphasising the need for unity and cohesion in the party to achieve its collective goals.

ALSO, another aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Olusola Oke, has stated that he will revamp rural communities through extensive road construction and infrastructural development.

Oke, who spoke during his tour of the local councils of the state, vowed to prioritise critical sectors, such as education, healthcare, energy and security.

He stressed that under his administration, farmers in the state would be employers of labour with a promise to support them through loans and modern farm equipment to aid their output.

Oke, who promised to use his wealth of experience to better the masses in the state, assured the people of the state that if given the opportunity to fly the flag of the party, he would turn around the state economy.
