Omisore defects to APC

The Social Democratic Party’s candidate in Osun 2018 gubernatorial election, Iyiola Omisore, has defected to the All Progressives Congress.

Omisore contested the 2018 governorship poll on the platform of the SDP but went into coalition with the APC before the September 28 rerun.

The former lawmaker was at his polling unit in Ward 6, Moore, Ile-Ife, in the convoy of the Osun State Deputy Governor, Benedict Alabi, to pick the APC membership card.

Omisore came third in the 2018 poll while the People’s Democratic Party’s Ademola Adeleke and Gboyega Oyetola of the APC emerged second and the first respectively.

He was speculated to have been promised a senatorial ticket for Osun East senatorial district in the 2019 elections amongst other juicy offers including the retrieval of his international passport seized by the EFCC.

Meanwhile, in an interview a day after the Osun election, former APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomole, denied placing a monetary offer before Omisore as a way of seeking his support.
