Olubadan designate assures Makinde’s advisory council of his fitness, readiness to ascend throne

Oba Owolabi Olakulehin

Olubadan designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has expressed confidence about his medical, spiritual and physical  fitness and readiness to be enthroned as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The Olubadan designate made this known while receiving a three- man delegation of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Advisory Council, led by Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), who were on a courtesy visit at his Alalubosa residence.

Other members of delegation included: the first female Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsura Sunmonu, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Segun Olayiwola.

Olakulehin, who spoke extensively in Yoruba language, said, “God is in support of my ambition. He has confirmed that it is my turn to reign as Olubadan, and I have seen His manifestation. There is nothing left again. I am fit and ready. Everything is set.”

“ I will not disappoint God and the entire people of Ibadanland. I have the support of other members of the Olubadan in Council. We have been together for a long time. They are my people.”

Earlier in his address, the leader of the delegation, Agba Ofin of Ibadanland, Chief Ayorinde (SAN) hinted that they had the mandate of Governor Makinde to pay a courtesy visit to Olubadan designate as members of his Advisory Council.

Ayorinde, who confirmed the fitness of Olakulehin for the throne, promised that they would make their findings and observations known to the governor so that the process for coronation can commence in earnest.

According to him: “There is a standard procedure to be followed in any issue concerning Ibadanland, especially the enthronement of Olubadan.

“However, we thank God for always taking control. Governor Makinde is not around now but he will soon be back. I am leading a powerful delegation, which shows the seriousness that is attached to the visit. The governor doesn’t want the matter to be prolonged, that is why he mandated us to come.

“We are his forerunner in this matter. Whenever he is around he will pay a visit to the Olubadan designate. BabaBaba is fit and can even compete in a marathon race.”

In his comment, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe, who shed tears of joy described the visit as the happiest thing to happen in his life in recent times.

According to him, “We have had a lot of stories concerning this matter, but with today’s visit of the Advisory Council to Governor Makinde, I will have a sound sleep. Governor Makinde has, once again, proved himself as a true son, who is always after the progress of Ibadanland.”
