Okorocha sets up panel against 40 monarchs for allegedly swearing fake affidavit in court

rochas-okorocha--IMO State Governor, Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has set up a panel to investigate the activities of 40 monarchs in the state, who he accused of swearing fake affidavit in court against him.

Okorocha disclosed this on Monday while receiving some monarchs from Mbaise land in the state, comprising three councils in the area Ezinihitte Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise and Aboh Mbaise Local Councils, stating that they would be fair in their assignment.

He disclosed that he never had any intention to suspend the monarchs, adding that it was the affair of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, wondering why they allegedly swore to an oath that he did so.

The Imo State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the last elections in the state, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, hails from Mbutu, Aboh Mbaise Local Council of the state.

The governor also promised that he would not unleash unjust punitive measures against anyone in the state with the mindset that his political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, is in power.

He also denied ever asking a monarch from the area to tell his sons to withdraw his petition against him from the governorship and legislative tribunal in the state, stressing that he was confident that he won clearly in the polls in the state.

While advising them not to be a tool in the hands of politicians, he threatened to handle such according to the law: “Traditional rulers still operating on the wrong impression created or standard set by the PDP in the state would have themselves to blame.  The Ezes who have continued to fight the government will have themselves to blame.  Those who believed that they had relationship with the president of the PDP extraction are no more in power today.  But I cannot do what they did because I want to show leadership. I am proud of traditional rulers from Mbaise.”

The governor promised to attend this year’s popular Iriji Mbaise traditional yam festival that would soon take place soon in the area.

The leader of the delegation and the Deputy Chairman, State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Chidume Okoro, said they were at the seat of Government to show love and total acceptance of the governor, urging Okorocha to forgive and forget the embarrassment some disgruntled persons allegedly unleashed on him last year at the event and attend the festival this year.
