Ohanaeze alleges plot to frustrate quest for Igbo presidency in 2023

Youth wing pledges to present best candidate

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, alerted of a plot by some highly placed persons to frustrate the Igbo quest to produce the next president of the country in 2023.

It urged the Igbo to get prepared for what it described as “the horrible and shocking things” that will soon begin to unfold.

Secretary-General of the Chidi Ibeh-led faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, cautioned the Igbo that 2022 would be strenuous and tougher than last year and urged them to be prepared with the same virtue and mental strength that saw them through the oppression, intimidation and arm twisting globally, especially in Nigeria.

He expressed the hope that despite attempts to truncate Igbo presidential ambition, Ndigbo will overcome their common enemies, who are bent on ensuring that the South-East “continues to run in circles and enslaved permanently in the country’s politics.”

“The Igbo must be prepared for the horrible and shocking things ahead while hoping for the promising future. There will be attempts to scuttle Igbo political hope for 2023 and manipulate the electoral process to ensure that the South East is denied the opportunity of getting either the All Progressives Congress (APC) or Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential tickets in 2023,” the statement reads.

MEANWHILE, the youth wing of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide, has pledged to choose the right presidential candidate that would be acceptable to all Nigerians at the right time.

It stated this, yesterday, in a statement issued by the Acting Leader, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones.

“We shall make effort to present the best candidates with the right precedence, education, reputation, preparedness, temperament and the right ideas to the country.

“We shall negotiate with stakeholders from different parts of Nigeria and across political divides to support our aspiration, which we believe shall be in the best interest of the country,” he said.

He stressed that the group was united and single-minded in achieving its objective, stressing: “In Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, we believe and are single-minded in our determination to campaign vigorously and convince, rather than stampede Nigerians across ethnic groups to support an Igbo for the nation’s presidency in 2023.

“In the next eight to 10 months, it is expected that the two major political parties and the others would have concluded their nomination processes and elected their candidates.”
