An octogenarian, Pa Geoffrey Nwebor, yesterday, returned his over 15 years old property, at plot 130 A Ekulu Extension layout, Enugu, to the state government, saying he was more comfortable doing so than allow some trespassers forcefully snatch the land from him.

Nwebor told reporters in Enugu that he decided to return the property, measuring 1,000 square meters, to the state, following a move by a trespasser in the state to forcefully collect the property from him with the backing of security agents.

He said he had not been able to develop the property since he acquired it for lack of resources.

He lamented that the trespasser had continuously used security officials to harass him and his family over the land since he acquired an adjoining land, adding that last week, the trespassers began the fencing of his property, illegally extending and erecting walls to cover his disputed land with security officials protecting the workers.

Narrating the history of the contentious property, in a letter to Governor Peter Mbah, he acquired the land in 1989 through late Prof. Pius Okigbo. He, thereafter, perfected the titles and other documents from the Ministry of Lands, Enugu State.
