Obi urges Nigerians to vote for Jonathan, donates N7m to CKC Onitsha

DEPUTY DIRECTOR, Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) National Campaign Council and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has urged Nigerians to vote and return President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for a second term, describing him as a brand when it comes to governance.

Besides, the former Anambra state governor has linked the fall in the value of the naira to the dip in current price of oil.

Obi who stated these in a press release signed by his media executive, Valentine Obienyem and  made available to newsmen in Awka, explained that the global fall in oil prices was affecting many nations of the world, especially those that export petroleum like Nigeria.

He argued that, “Comparatively, Nigerian was one of the least affected among oil-producing nations”  which was of proof of Nigerian’s sound macro economic management.

Obi declared that Jonathan has an enviable past that holds a bright prospect for a far better future, adding that in leadership, it is good to retrospect into the past of those seeking different positions so as to have an idea of what the future will be.

Obi noted, “Just as every brand of any particular product had its selling points ,today in Nigeria, President Jonathan has strong selling points that have compelling reasons why Nigerians should return him for another four years.

“His records are available for all to evaluate, including his respect for democratic dividends, his transformation of the airports in the country, his ability to return the trains back to tracks after more than 30 years, his transformation of the Agriculture sector, his imprints on education, his belief in the unity of the country, among others”.

In another development, Obi   has advised students of Christ the king College (CKC), Onitsha, his alma mater, to be good ambassadors of the college, just as presented a cheque of N7 million to the institution.

Urging them to strive to achieve greatness in their lives by taking their education seriously, he explained that the money was part of the funds raised from corporate organisations and private individuals which is now shared among schools in Nigeria, especially in his home State of Anambra.

A statement signed by Obienyem and made available to The Guardian in Awka on Wednesday said the Obi who presented the cheque after inspecting a building project “Prof. Chike Obi Science Centre” they are using it to construct recalled that he also made  cash donations  to St. Patrick Secondary School, Obollo-Eke and Mater Amabilis Girls Secondary School, Adani.
