Oba Owolabi Olakulehin is set to be installed as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan following the demise of Oba Moshood Olalekan Balogun on Thursday.

This is according to Oyo Affairs which reported on Friday that Oba Olakulehin hails from the Ibadan North East local government area (LGA) of Oyo state.

The 84-year-old Olakulehin is a former member of the House of Representatives and a retired soldier.


According to Oyo Affairs, the next Olubadan of Ibadan is also a man of many talents despite being unfamiliar to the public.

“Oba Olakulehin who came into the spotlight following the demise of Oba Lekan Balogun on Thursday night comes from the Okugbaja family in the Ita Baale area,” read the report.

“He has a military background, having served in the Nigerian Army. He is also a committed Christian.


“In 1992 during the 3rd Republic under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Oba Olakulehin ran for and won a seat in the Federal House of Representatives.”

High Chief Olakulehin, the Balogun of Ibadanland, is also the head of the military line of the Olubadan system.

Oba Balogun, Alli Okunmade II joined his ancestors on Thursday night, two years after ascending the throne of his forefathers.
