NYSC members assured of adequate security, welfare in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has promised to provide adequate security and welfare to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the state for the one-year mandatory national service.


He made the promise, yesterday, during the closing ceremony of NYSC 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 Orientation Course at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Asaya, Kabba Local Council of Kogi.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Oyibo Salifu, assured that the state government, just like before, would continue to prioritise the security of life and property of the corps members, as well as their welfare, to make them comfortable while they serve their fatherland.

In her remarks, the State Coordinator, NYSC, Mrs Mofoluwaso Williams, revealed that 1,383 corps members (712 males and 671 females) were deployed to Kogi.

Director General of NYSC, Brig-Gen Yusha’u Ahmed, has warned corps members against meddling in local politics during their service year.

The DG, while addressing corps members at the closing ceremony of 2024 Batch ‘A stream 1’ orientation in Sokoto State, yesterday, urged them to accept their posting in good faith.

Represented by the State NYSC Coordinator, Usman Yaro, the DG urged the corps members to respect the culture and tradition of their host communities and to remain peaceful and resilient while adding value.

In Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has tasked corps members deployed to the state to be symbols of hope and be determined to take up responsibilities that will uplift the lives of citizens.


The governor gave the charge yesterday, at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Council, during the closing of Batch A Stream 1 orientation course.

A total of 1676 corps members (858 males and 812 females) completed the orientation in the state.

The governor, represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Tammy Danagogo, also charged the corps members to see themselves as elite youths, who must be disciplined and patriotic in making a positive impact in their host communities.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has appealed to employers in the state not to reject corps members posted to their establishments for their one-year national service.

Sule made the appeal at the orientation course closing ceremony of Batch A Stream I corps members at Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi Local Council, yesterday.

He, therefore, called on them to accommodate all corps members posted to their establishments and offer them positive and impactful mentorship for a memorable service year and help lay a solid foundation for their future.
