.Elizade VC urges BEDC to improve on quality service delivery

Vice Chancellor of Elizade University, Prof. Kayode Ijadunola, at the weekend, said that the systemic failure in the country had been fuelling the ‘japa’ syndrome among the youths seeking a functioning society.

Ijadunola, who stressed the need for a lasting solution to the situation, which he described as hydra-headed, said that power failure issues must be tackled to solve other contending problems.

The vice chancellor, who challenged the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) on the need for quality service to the citizenry and particularly the university community, said that constant blackouts had been impeding the growth of the country.

Ijadunola, who met with the regional management team of BEDC, led by Remi Faola during a courtesy visit to his office, said Nigerians are fed up with constant blackouts and electricity failures.

He said that an efficient power supply is the bedrock of economic growth and sustainable development.

Regional Head of BEDC, Faola, who applauded the institution for the existing mutual co-operation between it and the firm, attributed the load-shedding currently being experienced in parts of Akure to de-generation and a gas shortage.
