Fulham attacking midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has promised that he and his Super Eagles team-mates will give 100% to get the result they want when they clash with bitter rivals, Ghana.

Iwobi has put the events that trailed the outcome of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) behind him, as he demonstrated enthusiasm about the international friendlies in Morocco.

Nigerian fans scapegoated Iwobi after the Eagles lost the final of AFCON 2023 2-1 to host, Ivory Coast on February 11. He was cyber-bullied by fans who believed he did not do enough.

The 27-year-old who was one of the early arrivals in Morocco for the international friendly matches against Ghana and Mali spoke with the Super Eagles media officer, Babafemi Raji.

With the team assembling again after a wonderful AFCON, Iwobi was asked how they reflected on the outcome, what it feels like to be back again and what the players are talking about.

“Because it was in season, we had to go straight back to the club football, so we haven’t had much time to reflect. But of course, we want to continue the form we had at the AFCON.

“We also want to hopefully push on and make things great again.”

As regards the game against Ghana on Friday, Raji asked Iwobi what he and his Super Eagles team-mates are talking about.

“Of course, it’s like another rivalry against one of the nations that are close to us,” replied the former Arsenal and Everton midfielder.

“So, we will give our full 100% to try and get the result that we want when we meet Ghana.”

The Super Eagles have recorded a full camp in Marrakech, Morocco ahead of their international friendly matches against Ghana and Mali following the arrival of Bright Osayi-Samuel on Wednesday.

Nigeria will go all out to exact vengeance on Ghana because when they met in March 2022 in a two-legged play-off for a place at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Black Stars won on the away-goal rule after a 1-1 aggregate.
