Nigeria Customs officer killed in Kebbi by reckless driver


*Command organises the first parade in three years

An officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Kebbi Area Command, Aminu Abdullahi has been killed while on duty by a motorist, Abdulwasiu Salawudeen.


The Command said a 2015 Toyota Corolla with chassis no: 2TBURHE3FC456204 rammed into the officer on July 13, 2023.

The officer was rushed to General Hospital, Yauri for medical attention, after a proper first aid was done; he was transferred to the orthopaedic hospital Wammako, in Wammako Local Council Area of Sokoto State. Unfortunately, he gave up the ghost.

According to The Comptroller of the Command, Dr Ben Oramalugo, the suspect, and the vehicles had since been taken to the Kebbi Command Headquarters for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the Command has organised a parade to boost the morale of the officers and men of the Command.

Dr Oramalugo said the essence of the parade was to honour officers who had paid the supreme price, encourage, instil discipline and bond among officers to carry out the Nigeria Customs Service core mandates of suppression of smuggling, facilitate trade, provide security, revenue generation and enhance customs civil relationship to the host communities.


He advised the officers to be their brother’s keepers and see each other as brothers in uniform and also help each other with intelligence, and reinforcement.

In another development, the Customs Area Comptroller received the new Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Samuel Titus Musa and his team.

In his speech, The CP stated that the essence of their visit is to encourage collaboration between the duo and solicit support whenever the need arises to fight crimes in the state.

Dr Ben stressed that Nigeria Customs Service Kebbi Command had been synergizing with Nigeria Police Force, kebbi Command to provide a peaceful atmosphere to the entire people of Kebbi state for development and growth.

He reassured the CP of maximum cooperation and continue synergy.
