New Commandant, Gen. Ibrahim,Takes Over At NDA, Kaduna

Following the recent redeployment of top officers in the Nigerian Army and the hierarchy of the military, a new commandant of Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Mohammed Ibrahim has taken over the command of the military Institution in Kaduna.

Major General Ibrahim, who succeeded Major General Mohammed Inuwa Idris as the 27th Commandant of NDA, is a seasoned infantry officer.

Besides, addressing the Principal Staff Officers, Deans and Head of Centres of the Academy during the handing over ceremony, the outgoing Commandant, Major General Idris described the new Commandant as a seasoned and thorough-bred infantry officer, endowed with vast exposure and experience that will be brought to bear in piloting the affairs of the academy.

He said that NDA was particularly lucky that its successive Commandants in the recent years were people who enjoyed a warm and cordial relationship with each other since their days as cadets at the academy, adding that they all shared common values and goals, which he said had helped to sustain consistency in policy and vision for the academy.

General Idris however assured that the new Commandant will continue with the developmental strides that have been entrenched in the academy, as he possess the capacity to improve on them.

While calling for support for the new Commandant, the outgoing NDA boss pointed out that far reaching reforms have been achieved under his 18 months leadership of the academy, stating that, the real reforms were intangibles like character development of cadets and realignment of academic and military training towards meeting present challenges and those of the future.

Meanwhile, in his response, General Ibrahim applauded his predecessor on the various developmental projects scattered round the academy and innovative ideas he adopted during his tenure as Commandant.

He urged the staff of the Academy to embrace team spirit in order to be able to succeed in the task of producing well-trained officer cadets for the nation.

Until his appointment as NDA Commandant, Major General Mohammed Ibrahim was the Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation at the Army Headquarters, Abuja. He also served as Director Policy at the Department of Policy and Plans, Army Headquarters, and Commander 1 Brigade, Sokoto.
