Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the Most Rev. (Dr.) Henry Ndukuba, has blamed political parties for the nation’s socio-economic challenges, saying their inability to provide good governance has contributed to the decadence the country is currently facing. He said this at Ado-Ekiti, during the dedication of the ultra modern Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, Diocese of Ekiti.
The Primate noted that poor governance is responsible for the surge in corruption, poverty, insecurity and other ills in the country. Ndukuba, who is also the Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Church, sued for peace ahead of the Ekiti governorship election, as well as the general elections in 2023.
Calling on the youths not to engage in electoral malpractice, the Primate noted that no party, whether PDP, APC or SDP, among others, has solutions to the nation’s problems, saying irrespective of the gloomy situations there is still hope for the people, as all shall be well.
He said: “The governors in the Southwest political zone have provided the right leadership for their people and region. This cannot be compared to other regions. They have provided good leadership in the time of challenges and we commend them for this.”
He urged qualified Nigerians to come out and participate in the political process, so that selfish politicians will not take advantage of the situation to control the people’s destiny.
In his homily taken from 1Kings 8:1-4, Ndukuba commended the congregation for their support towards the completion of the cathedral, describing it as one of the best in the country.
He also prayed for the Lord, Almighty to bless everyone that contributed to the success of the project. Some of the dignitaries that grace the event, included the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi; Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of Ondo and Diocesan Bishop of Ekiti, Most Rev. Chris Tayo Omotunde; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Adeyemi Adejugbe; Ajero of Ijero-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Ajewole, among other eminent royal fathers and clergymen.
