NASMED inaugurates new executive committee

The newly-elected executive board of the Nigeria Association of Sports Medicine (NASMED) was at the weekend inaugurated at the boardroom of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), National Stadium, Lagos.

The 12-member executive board members were elected in an online poll held on June 13, 2024, to run group for the next four years.

On the new board are Dr Olajide Joseph Adebola, FAPH (president), Dr Adebukola Oluwarotimi Bojuwoye (first vice president), Dr Ummukulthoum Bakare (second vice president), Dr Ibrahim Tijjani (third vice president) and Dr Francis Obinnaya Udugwu, who emerged as the secretary general.

Also on the board are Dr Mariam Mkpo Odu (assistant secretary), Dr PT Judith Amaka Enebe (treasurer), Dr Kenechukwu John Aneze (financial secretary), Dr Babatunde John Akinbinu (publicity secretary), Dr Sunday Onimisi (ex- officio 1), Dr Mazeed Alaba (ex-officio 2) and immediate past President, Prof. Olatunde Makanju, who completes the board list the ex-officio 3.

Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) President, Habu Gumel, who was represented by the Secretary General, Babatunde Popoola, assured the new board that NASMED is an important body that ensures good health and safety of Nigerian athletes, which the NOC does not toy with.

He advised the newly inaugurated officers to set the ball rolling by getting down to business immediately, bearing in mind that the 2024 Paris Olympic Games is almost here.
