The Nasarawa State Government has called on investors within the state to initiate community-related projects.

Governor Abdullahi Sule gave the charge during the commencement of road construction and borehole drilling in Uke, a community in the Karu Local Government Area.

Sule, represented by the Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals, Kwanta Yakubu, praised Hasetins Commodities Limited (HCL), a mining company, for its efforts in initiating projects that benefit local communities.

He urged other companies in the state to follow Hasetins’ example.

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to partnering with both local and international investors, Governor Sule highlighted the importance of these projects in aligning with the state government’s seven-point agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, both aimed at improving the lives of rural dwellers.

“I commend Hasetins because this is the kind of investment and industrialization we seek. They are not only building facilities but also engaging about 80 percent of our residents. We will continue to support and inspect these projects,” said Sule.

Peter Butt, Director of Corporate Affairs at Hasetins, explained that these initiatives are part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He emphasized Hasetins’ commitment to fostering mutual benefits with host communities through training, employment, and infrastructure development.

“We aim to train, employ, and engage locals. Building roads will facilitate access to markets for farmers and traders,” Butt stated. He also addressed Nigeria’s low life expectancy due to inadequate drinking water, pledging to drill boreholes to provide clean water.

His Highness Ahmed Abdullahi, the Sarkin Uke, assured the community’s full support for Hasetins’ initiatives. He noted that the diverse ethnic and religious groups in Uke live harmoniously and will collaborate to protect the investments and facilities provided by companies.

The traditional ruler expressed the community’s commitment to supporting and safeguarding the projects initiated by Hasetins and other companies operating in the area.
